Hello, I’m Helena
That frustration became the seed of something new. The Wowhaus began in my living room with a few friends. That was nearly two and a half years ago. What started as occasional get togethers, quickly grew into regular art sessions for adults and their preschool children. Over time, we expanded to welcome older kids and the home-educating community too.
Before too long, I noticed how fully the adults in the room were engaging with the creative processes I’d originally designed for the kids. They were immersed, inspired, and lit up by the experience. This sparked something in me that was completely unexpected— a strong desire to provide similar sessions for adults. And so, Wowhaus Nights was born: creative classes designed specifically for adults, using the same joyful, process-based approach.
I’m deeply passionate about the value of creative play at every age. It’s vital for our mental health, our well-being, and for building real community connections. It’s so very valuable and powerful.
I love what I do, and I hope The Wowhaus continues to serve our local community. But more than that, I hope we can grow and reach even more people, and share the positive power of creative play.
Hi, I’m Helena, founder of The Wowhaus. I’m Irish, but I’ve been living in the UK for almost 20 years now and I have made beautiful South Devon my home from home.
Creativity has been a constant thread throughout my life, primarily illustration, collage and design since graduating many moons ago. I have dipped in and out of teaching adults, young adults, as part of my creative career. So when I had my own children, and they were little, I naturally wanted to find thoughtful, good quality art sessions that we could take part in together. However I found the options were limited and uninspiring.
